hard work pays off
There it is! Hay on the ground after being cut, rolled, and raked. Plan C for the win! I don’t even know if there are words to describe the sense of satisfaction you get when the place God called you to gives back to you in a useful, meaningful way. But, I will share a passage that sums up this experience for us, both physically and spiritually:
“Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the LORD
and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD”
-Psalm 37:3-5a
God is so so so good. Although I didn’t bring them up in yesterday’s mass of failed plans, we were able to secure a tedder, baler and hay wagon as well. The baler knotter took some getting used to, but overall our first baling was an elating success.
We ended up being able to store up over 200 bales from the first cutting. It may seem unimpressive to some, but we chalked it up as a success, and you won’t hear our goats complaining. Time to take a short break from hay while it grows up again.
