forgot something

We left off with gearing up for the 24-hour water test, but just as we were about to do it, Superman noticed that there was one piece of membrane he thought he had installed but hadn’t. So, he mortared it on and we waited another few days. When it was dry, we plugged the drain and put in about 10 gallons of water, marked the water line and waited.

It was worth the wait! It held wonderfully! Hallelujah! After draining it and letting it dry, it was time to put in the shower floor and drain. Despite my being adamant about the slate tile elsewhere, I didn’t really want it as a shower floor. I wanted to keep expenses down, but not to the degree that it would veer from the look we were going for. In our previous shower project, we opted for flat river rock, and if you scour the internet for tiled showers, you’ll find that most other tiled showers have something similar. After walking back and forth through the tile store about 6 times, we finally decided it was worth it to just go with the river rock. It’s still natural stone, it isn’t slippery, and the varying color options allowed us to merge the floor and wall tile into a complete look.

The floor is in! And there’s a sneak peek of the wall tile!

No regrets on this choice either! The round stones will be a nice contrast to the rectangular tiles on the wall and the rest of the floor and the colors will blend it all together. Even with the little hiccup of the missing piece, we pushed forward. I can finally see the light at the end of this master bathroom tunnel!
